From Our Facebook Wisconsin State Questers Group:
Royal Joy Williams #1288 just finished hosting the Fall Convention on October 11, 2016. Our next program will be our Christmas Party in December. Gwen Tveter usually puts that together. It is always lovely at the Walworth County Historical Society in Elkhorn [WI]. Our last program was in Delavan. We had an historical boat ride featuring Frank Lloyd Wright homes with our speaker Frank Landi who wrote lovely books on the subject.
Wisconsin Questers Learn the History of Lake Lawn Lodge
The Wisconsin State Quester Fall Board Meeting was held at the historic Lake Lawn Lodge in Delavan, Wisconsin on September 15, 2015. Following the business meeting and lunch in the lovely Alcove, the Questers were treated to a joint presentation by Chris Brookes and Wisconsin Questers State President Laura Shimkus. Laura shared photos of the lodge, its guests as they skiied, swam, danced and dined at the resort. Chris Brookes embodied Mrs. Reider, owner with her husband and the Zillishes of the resort from the '40s through the '60s. Her reminisces of Mrs. Reider's time at Lake Lawn brought not only many memories to those who were also around at that time, but informed the new-comers of the surprising past of our local gem. It was the launchpad for Lawrence Welk, was the childhood vacation spot of Gene Rodenberry and was also home to the first Japanese-American community in the Walworth County area.
